Privacy Policy

What we collect when you use Artea, why we need it, who we share it with and the choices you have. We never sell your data.

Who we are

Artea provides the app, cards and services described on this website. When this policy says “we” or “us”, it means Artea. The money in your account is held by our regulated partner banks, which receive the details they need to hold it for you and handle them under their own privacy notices.

This policy covers the Artea app, artea.example and any support conversation you have with us. If you have a question about it, email hello@artea.example.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to open your account, move your money and keep it safe. Most of it comes from you during sign-up; the rest is created as you use the app.

  • Identity details: your name, date of birth, home address, nationality, and the photo of your ID and selfie you take during sign-up.
  • Contact details: your email address and mobile number.
  • Account and transaction data: balances, card payments, transfers, payees, savings vaults and the plan you’re on.
  • Device data: your phone’s model, operating system, app version, IP address and a device identifier we use to bind your account to your phone.
  • Support history: the messages you send us in the app or by email, and our replies.

How we use it

We use your information to run your account and for nothing else you wouldn’t expect. Each use rests on our contract with you, a legal duty we have as a financial service, our legitimate interest in keeping Artea secure, or your consent.

  • To verify who you are and open your account.
  • To process card payments, transfers and plan fees.
  • To spot and stop fraud, including the real-time alerts we send you.
  • To meet our legal duties, such as financial-crime checks and record-keeping.
  • To answer your questions and resolve complaints.
  • To send product news and offers, but only if you’ve opted in.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only with the companies that help us provide Artea, and only what each of them needs: our partner banks, the card network and payment processors that carry your payments, our identity verification provider, our cloud hosting providers and fraud-prevention agencies. Every one of them is bound by a contract that limits how they may use it.

We also share information with law enforcement, courts and financial authorities when the law requires us to. We never sell your data, and we never share your transactions with advertisers.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is open. After you close it, financial record-keeping rules require us to keep your identity details and transaction history for a further period, usually between five and seven years, after which we delete them.

Support messages are deleted two years after the conversation ends, and marketing preferences are kept until you change them.

How we protect it

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to the app is protected by biometric login, device binding and a separate passcode for payments, and our staff can see customer data only when their role requires it, with every access logged.

We will never ask for your passcode, card PIN or full card number by phone, email or message. If someone does, it isn’t us: report it from the app.

Your rights

You stay in control of your information. Most requests take a tap in Settings → Privacy; for anything else, email hello@artea.example and we’ll reply within 30 days.

  • Download a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correct details that are wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete your data, except where the law requires us to keep it.
  • Object to, or withdraw consent for, marketing and optional analytics.
  • Complain to the data protection authority in your country if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data.

Changes to this policy

If we make a change that affects how we use your data, we’ll tell you in the app and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
