Seven years after opening to everyone, 12 million people in more than 40 countries bank with Artea, and more than $8 billion moves through the app every month.

This month Artea passed 12 million members. When the app opened to everyone in April 2019, the goal was simple: opening an account should take five minutes, not a week. More than 5,000 people still join every day, most of them invited by someone who already sends them money through Artea.

Members now bank with us in more than 40 countries, more than $8 billion moves through Artea every month, and the app’s average rating has held at 4.9.

Where the growth came from

Word of mouth

Free instant transfers between members are still the feature people mention first. Every time a member splits a bill or pays back a friend, someone new sees how quick it is.

Business accounts

Since Artea for Business launched in 2024, companies have been our fastest-growing group. Many of them started with one founder’s personal account.

“Twelve million is a big number, but the one we watch is smaller: how many minutes it takes to do something with your money. We want that number to keep falling.”
Maya Lindqvist, Head of Communications

What comes next

Over the next year we’re bringing savings vaults and the multi-currency wallet to every country we serve, and adding more currencies to business accounts.
